Paul Coletti has made over 30 award-winning CDs and DVDs, among them Hyperion’s extraordinarily successful release English Music for Viola. At 23 he made his New York, San Francisco and Chicago debut recitals. He has been both a conductor and soloist with the New Japan Philharmonic Orchestra in Tokyo, has given jazz and tango concerts with Claude Bolling, has written and arranged music for pop albums, and many of his own compositions have been recorded on Sony and published by Oxford University Press. His career includes over 1500 concerts in every major U.S. city, at the Sydney Opera House, and London’s Queen Elizabeth Hall, the Berlin Philharmonie, Buenos Aires, Osaka, Paris, Salzburg and at the Edinburgh Festival. Since moving to Los Angeles, he has performed as soloist under Gerard Schwarz in Disney Hall with the LA Philharmonic. In 2007 the city of Los Angeles awarded Gina and Paul Coletti for their contributions to music and education.
Paul Coletti is a frequent radio, television and media personality with appearances including NPR’s St. Paul Sunday, CNN, BBC, NHK, Classic Arts, and Telemundo. He has been featured in articles in the Strad and Strings magazines, and has performed Bartok’s viola concerto with Lord Yehudi Menuhin televised live from Berlin.
Professor Coletti has given master classes worldwide including at Rice and Indiana Universities, the Shanghai Conservatory, The Toho School in Japan, the Busan Festival in Korea, and throughout Europe. He has been a Professor at John Hopkins University, Head of Chamber Music at UCLA, and at age 25 was Head of Strings at the University of Washington. Paul Coletti teaches at the Colburn School Conservatory of Music.
